GENERAL INFORMATION

The English Preparatory Program is an academic language training program, comprising intensive English education provided up to 30 hours per week, and it is compulsory for the departments wherein the medium of instruction is English. The English Preparatory Program is obligatory for the students who are not able to succeed in the proficiency and/or exemption exam and who do not have the required language certificates out of equivalent exams officially accepted by our Institution.

For the time being, our school provides compulsory English preparatory education for the students enrolled in the MIS (Management Information Systems) Department. In the near future optional English preparatory education programs will also be provided for students of several faculties.

Compulsory English Preparatory Program

Within the framework of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the English Preparatory Program is an intensive language program covering A1-A2 and B1-B2 levels. The courses have been planned under two basic titles, namely Main Course Lessons and Writing Skills Lessons. Main Course Lessons aim to improve use of language with a skill-based development. In this course, four skills of the language, speaking, listening, writing and reading are integrated. Additionally, Writing Skills Lessons are planned to improve our students’ writing skills, required in their departments for further academic writing. Students must successfully complete the compulsory preparatory program in a year to be able to continue their education in the departments in which the medium of instruction is English. Any failure will result in a repeat year or require proof for proficiency level.
