GENERAL INFORMATION
İzmir Bakırçay University School of Foreign Languages started its teaching activities with the establishment of our university with the law numbered 6745 on 20.08.2016, and for the time being it has the Department of Foreign Languages under its roof.
The duties of our school include;
- delivering compulsory foreign language instruction and vocational English instruction in all faculties and schools of the university,
- preparing and administering the foreign language exams held by the university, and
- preparing the curriculum of preparatory language education.
The Department of Foreign Languages is a program which offers advanced preparatory English language training for students enrolled in the programs where the medium of instruction is English. It is responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out preparatory education, and with its qualified academic staff who specialized in foreign language education, it aims to help students acquire and improve the necessary speaking, writing, reading and listening skills to pursue their academic studies.
In addition, with the compulsory or elective foreign language lessons in the departments where the medium of instruction is Turkish, it is aimed to enable students to use English in four basic skills (reading, speaking, listening and writing) effectively as they will need it in their future academic, social and professional lives.
The main components of the School of Foreign Languages are Testing and Evaluation Unit, Materials Development Unit, Professional Development Unit and Student Support Unit.
